2009 Recession-busting Special
Blackberry-addict Obama is President, the world’s internet now boasts 1 billion users, and Nokia has launched the first of its own series of iPhone-style touchscreen phones with a bundled subscription music service. WOW - look away for five minutes and the whole world changes!

In these economically depressed days, its worth reminding ourselves that the mobile and internet industries are the most dynamic and influential of our time - and that audience behaviors, technology evolution and industry statistics are on the side of continued rapid growth and innovation.

So on that note, we thought “let’s showcase mobile dating” !

Monday’s Program

  • Find your Valentine’s Day date with Meet Me on mobile !
  • Mobiles are very personal, but can they help you find a date? Meet Me thinks so - and they’ve teamed up with our pals at Gravity to launch an anonymous video dating service. Passionate Meet Me marketer Melanie Bowman will show us how we can all get a date using the new Meet Me service!

Checkout their hilarious how-to video :

  • 2009 Predictions and Live Audience Survey
To kick off the year, Mobile Monday Sydney co-founder Tim Parsons will cover a selection of major growth areas expected in 2009 - and drag some people up on stage to give their opinions too! PLUS we want your live feedback on what you’d like to see at Mobile Monday this year (thanks to the guys at Mobile Online Business - checkout their new remote-control-browser-via-mobile service
    iDidntDoThat.com).
  • Industry Networking
The long summer holidays are over, come along and meet Sydney’s best and brightest mobile and internet-industry professionals.

RSVP here to secure your place !

This Tuesday 29th: Augment yourself! with AIMIA NSW Intimates

An event all about “Ubiquitous Augmented Reality”

This one really caught our eye

“Ubiquitous augmented reality technology is not far off and mobile phones will be the driving force. As mobile devices advance from 3G to 4G, and because everyone has one, they represent a very attractive business opportunity in distributing augmented reality services and advertising.

“Augmented reality is about to hit Australian shores with QR (quick response) code technology. If you don’t already know about this technology, come along and participate in a live demo of QR codes in action.* Beyond QR codes, you will see how traditional printed ads can deliver rich media content to your mobile phone when they have been augmented with tagless picture recognition technology. For example, you see a movie poster in a magazine that interests you. You target it with your mobile and immediately receive the movie trailer that begins to play. Also, see how you can play video games outdoors with the augmented reality games engine A-Rage and learn how to create your own augmented reality experiences.

“This AIMIA NSW Intimates event ‘Augment yourself!’ is a free event and is held from 6.30pm, Tuesday 29th July at The Privilege Club, 70 King Street, Sydney. Be prepared to be amazed: your physical world is about to be changed forever.
