Newsflash : Xumii, Sydney’s nominee to Barcelona Peer Awards 2009 shortlisted!

MobileMonday Sydney is proud to announce that its nominee for the Global MobileMonday Peer Awards Barcelona 2009, Xumii, has reached the final shortlist of 20 out of a field of 42 nominees and 169 participating startups.

This is a terrific result for an inspiring Australian-led mobile technology company, and doubly so considering this is the first time we’ve been involved in the Global MobileMonday Peer Awards!” said MobileMonday Sydney chapter co-founder Tim Parsons.

The MobileMonday Mobile Peer Awards Barcelona is a gala global mobile innovation event attracting over 1000 attendees, held alongside the 3GSM World Mobile Congress event.

Defining Perceived Value in Mobile Media
Mobile expert Mac Walker will be discussing a new model for understanding customer perceived value in mobile services, drawing on his years as a manager of 3G mobile portals.

Mobile User Experience
Finally, Sheen Yap - Head of User Experience and Creative Services at 3 Mobile will be talking about the critical elements of the user experience on mobile.

Pocketschool logoThis week Mobile Monday attendees ‘PocketSchool’ launched a new service that teaches foreign languages using a mobile phone. PocketSchool works by sending daily audio messages to your mobile and is targeted at people who would like to learn a new language before travelling but may not have the time to attend classroom courses or regularly listen to a CD.

PocketSchool was founded by Michael Drysdale and Andrew Sinclair - who developed the product locally with the aim of teaching English to non-English speaking countries.
