Friday, November 10th, 2006

Big thank you to Jennifer Wilson of HWW & Roy Hill of Mapshed for their great live demos. It was another intriguing evening at the Shellbourne Hotel with huge interest in what it takes to get a mobile product or service across the line into the haloed walled gardens of telcos.

The event ended well into the evening again with some of the group heading out for a bite to eat afterwards.

Some photos from the night and thanks to Debra Symons of Alcatel for taking the shots.

Launch Wrap

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Thanks to all who came to our launch event, and especially our guests - Terry, Mei Lin, Oliver and Jennifer.

Photos taken by Debra Symons of Alcatel from the event (thanks Deb, nice work!). You can also find these on our flickr slideshow at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mobilemondaysydney, (thanks Oliver!).

It was a fantastic night with almost 100 participants. Key insights on barriers to innovation and market entry:-

  • Australia is a small market; if you’re going to innovate, try to add an international dimension. (Terry)
  • If at first you don’t succeed, change everything and try again (Mei Lin)
  • Research shows the industry isn’t educating consumers enough - so we really need an education campaign (Oliver)
  • Investors are still wary of Mobile, even for companies with a long established track-records like HWW (Jennifer).

Thanks guys !

Mobile Monday Sydney - Monday night inaugural launch!

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Mobile Monday Sydney launch!
:: Monday September 4th 2006
:: 7pm
:: The Shelbourne Hotel, 200 Sussex St
(cnr Market & Sussex streets)

We have a great line up for Monday night to introduce Mobile Monday to Sydney.

Our panel of guests for Monday night are a great mob of mobile industry heavy weights with decisive insight into what is happening in the Australian mobile & wireless market.

On our panel for Monday night will be,
Mei Lin NgTerry Paleologos photoJennifer Wilson photoOliver Weidlich photo

  • Mei Lin Ng from mig33 - mig33.com
  • Terry Paleologos from Fairfax Digital - fairfaxdigital.com.au
  • Jennifer Wilson from HWW - hww.com.au
  • Oliver Weidlich from Ideal Interfaces and the Australian Mobile Lifestyle Index - www.idealinterfaces.com.au
  • Our topics for the evening are “Barriers to Entry - Starting up a mobile content + services business is tough. Raising capital, getting access to Telco content decks, putting together delivery systems, earning revenue. What are the barriers to entry ? What if any are the recipes for success? What structural problems exist that the industry needs to overcome? With over 1.3 million 3G handsets in Australia, we should have a plethora of services and content offerings competing for our attention. We don’t. What can potential mobile innovators do to get started ?”

    We look forward to seeing you on Monday night and don’t forget to bring your mobile and business cards!
