Global Peer Awards 2007 - Winners & Finalists

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

The MobileMonday Global Peer Awards 2007 took place during the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, with the winners announced on Feb 13th. (This is an edited precis of the full text & information - to found here).
2007 Peer awards companiesThe Audience Award went to a Swiss LBS application called Plazes. The Plazes service adds physical presence to the web. The Plazes Website automatically detects your location and connects you to people and places nearby.

The jury’s favorite was a French 3D application that can scan and manipulate real life hand written text. The winner, RealEyes3D, operates at two levels: It runs a mobile copy service for camera phone users, www.qipit.com and sells “handwritten messaging” applications to handset vendors.

Community Award went to an American company Mobile Complete. It offers solutions to manage the user experience throughout the life-cycle of mobile applications, services, and handsets.

MobileMonday believes the industry should take the time to get to know these finalists as we are certain they will be among those making important waves within the mobile industry over the next few years.

Here are the all 2007 MobileMonday Global Peer Awards finalists - congratulations to all:

Wrap up for MoMoSyd #3!

Friday, November 10th, 2006

Big thank you to Jennifer Wilson of HWW & Roy Hill of Mapshed for their great live demos. It was another intriguing evening at the Shellbourne Hotel with huge interest in what it takes to get a mobile product or service across the line into the haloed walled gardens of telcos.

The event ended well into the evening again with some of the group heading out for a bite to eat afterwards.

Some photos from the night and thanks to Debra Symons of Alcatel for taking the shots.

Launch Wrap

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Thanks to all who came to our launch event, and especially our guests - Terry, Mei Lin, Oliver and Jennifer.

Photos taken by Debra Symons of Alcatel from the event (thanks Deb, nice work!). You can also find these on our flickr slideshow at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mobilemondaysydney, (thanks Oliver!).

It was a fantastic night with almost 100 participants. Key insights on barriers to innovation and market entry:-

  • Australia is a small market; if you’re going to innovate, try to add an international dimension. (Terry)
  • If at first you don’t succeed, change everything and try again (Mei Lin)
  • Research shows the industry isn’t educating consumers enough - so we really need an education campaign (Oliver)
  • Investors are still wary of Mobile, even for companies with a long established track-records like HWW (Jennifer).

Thanks guys !
